Beautiful restaurant... Very good starter and dessert...main course has room to improve but friendly staff and beautiful place. I would come back and eat again
Went for our engagement celebrations and the staff were so nice and welcoming. Food is absolutely unreal as well!
Rugges Lane falls victim to same issues that most "high class" restaurants experience. They misunderstand good service/food for pushy wait staff, and laughably small portions. The pictures above show what I mean. The service although good was a bit pushy, plates were nearly lifted off the table at the mere hint that you were finished. We were constantly being asked questions "are you finished", "do you want this and that" blah blah blah. I'd safely say I spoke to the wait staff more during our meal than I did to my girlfriend because if I opened my mouth a staff member would appear over my shoulder "sorry what was that, what would you like". Its the illusion of tending to the customer, but it felt very imposing and almost as if we were being rushed out, which was strange because it was after 7 when we arrived. There was about 50 people in the restaurant, and without exaggeration 25-30 of them worked there circling the tables like vultures. My girlfriend made the comment that they must get home early once the last table leaves so they were rushing everyone out.
Booked here for Sunday lunch with 7 adults and 2 toddlers. Food was delicious and the staff were all very friendly and attentive. Good atmosphere too. Great that they had good quality plant based options as well for the vegans.
