Description
Start your journey in comfort and style aboard a luxury coach. Relax and enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee and switch on the free WiFi while you're whisked away to the Garden of Ireland. The sights and sounds of the city left behind, mesmerizing views come to the fore – dramatic mountains, rugged peaks, steep valleys and forest trails. Your first port of call is a lake called Lough Tay. Edged with a beach of glistening white sand in contrast to its dark peaty water has earned it the title of “The Guinness Lake” owing to its striking similarity to Ireland’s most famous export! Soak up the views of this vast wilderness. Travelling further along the Wicklow Way, come to “the valley of two lakes” and the ancient monastic settlement of Glendalough. This famous site was founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century and the most iconic landmark, the round tower, is over 1000 years old. Explore the fascinating ruins of its churches, graveyard, monastery and the natural magnificence of the glacial carved valley. The next stop on the tour is Avoca, famous for its handweaving and woolen mills. The working handweaving mill built on the banks of the Avoca River is said to date from 1723 and is the oldest extant manufacturer in Ireland. The original whitewashed buildings of the old mill now house a large Avoca store with a selection of clothing, soft furnishings and gifts. Ease away the stresses of life in these picturesque surroundings and take the weight off your feet while savoring delicious food in the Avoca Café, where you’ll also find a sweet treat for the return trip to Dublin!Includes
