Gallaghers Boxty House was so good we went twice during our two days in Dublin. The beer was the best red ale I’ve ever had. We got the Shepard’s pie and the Gaelic Boxty and both were so good. The food was fresh, quick, and so yummy. Both times our servers were fantastic, having a fun chat with us. You can tell they love their job and that Gallaghers is a good place full of good food and good people. Really a local gem. Not much more pricey than other places we ate in the Dublin City centre area but truly so worth it. I might dream of the Shepard’s pie forever…
Delicious and amazing! Gallagher’s Boxty House came highly recommended and it lived up to every expectation! We had the Chicken Boxty, Shepherds Pie, and Apple Crumble and every bite was delicious. Highly recommend getting reservations ahead of time.
We were recommended GBH for Irish dishes and enjoyed the boxty, fish and chips, colcannon and bread and butter pudding. Our server, Oogee, was great! She was genuinely friendly and speedy to us and all the tables downstairs. We wished we were seated upstairs as the downstairs was quite warm and lacked personality. Overall, good food, great service but get a table upstairs.
When Philip Rosenthal goes somewhere, I follow. As an American, I knew nothing about Boxty until seeing Gallagher's on Netflix and I knew I had to try it when I visited Dublin. I started with The Goodfellah, and it was the absolute best mocktail I have ever had. It was heavenly. The Boxty platter was phenomenal. We wanted to try Boxty in every way possible and it did not disappoint. The Boxty dumpling in the chili sauce was *chef's kiss*. My husband and I split Gallagher's Stew. That was a soul warming stew. Dinner was a treat. We decided to live it up and got the bread pudding and the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The sticky toffee pudding was delightful. The orange sauce that accompanied the pudding was such a nice addition. The pudding was terrific! The vanilla ice cream wasn't to my taste, but everything else was wonderful. Lastly, our server was a gem. She was charming and made us feel very welcome. Gallagher's is excellent!
Dropped in for lunch and had not only a delicious lunch but entertaining conversation with Mike. He made the experience spectacular. Knew details about how the food is prepared and very educated on different cuisines….to the history of the Temple Bar area and places to visit in Dublin. It was as if we were catching up with an old friend. Husband had Shepherds Pie, Fried pickles were a nice blend of sweet and salty all in one…while I had Fish & Chips. Delish! Lunch was gluten-free but you would never know it! Great experience !
