A local tip for visitors

If you’re visiting Dublin in autumn, I’d recommend heading over to the Liberties neighbourhood for a walk through the historic markets and around local craft shops. It’s not the usual visitor route, and by this time of year, the light hits the old brick just right, giving the streets a cosy feel. Afterward, find a small café nearby for a chat with locals over a proper flat white or pint. It’s these quieter corners where you’ll get a real sense of Dublin life beyond the main tourist sights.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about our Dublin Local Picks recommendations.

Our local editorial team, made up of people who live in Dublin and spend time exploring all parts of the city, selects the Local Picks. They base choices on real experience rather than paid promotions or algorithms.

The picks are reviewed and updated a few times a year to reflect seasonal changes, new openings, and shifts in what locals are enjoying around Dublin.

Many picks are family-friendly, especially parks, museums, and certain neighbourhood events. Occasionally, the picks include nightlife or adult-focused activities, but these are clearly indicated.

Some well-known spots are included if the locals genuinely recommend them, but the focus is on places and activities locals enjoy that also offer an authentic Dublin experience.

These recommendations come directly from Dubliners who live here, not from general guides or automated suggestions, so you get a more authentic perspective of the city.
