I’d been wanting to go here for a while and it did not disappoint! The staff were very attentive and delivered exemplary service with a welcome informal style. The food itself was simply stunning, with the varied menu championing Irish fare with Mediterranean flare. Eric and the team should be extremely proud of all their efforts! This restaurant is a must if you’re in Dublin!!
One of the best meals I’ve ever had, certainly the best in Dublin, could not recommend more. The tasting menu was out of this world - do not eat before, you will be stuffed by desert. Fernando was a fantastic waiter, he really made our night special.
The Good- small plates were excellent- the gnocchi and focaccia were both delicious and a great start to the meal. The Bad - main course was very disappointing. The monkfish was extremely rubbery and tough, to the point that it was difficult to cut. It was also super salty. Two of us ordered it and both ended up sending it back. To the manager’s credit, they handled the situation very well. They apologized, were understanding, and offered to replace the dish. I initially chose the chicken, but was told it would take around 40 minutes, so we shared the striploin instead. Sadly, that was also underwhelming, as a large portion of it consisted of fatty pieces. Also the response from our waiter when we mentioned that the monkfish was rubbery, was full of sass. Rather than acknowledging the issue, we were simply told, “That’s the way it is“. It’s a shame because the starters showed real promise, and the manager’s professionalism was appreciated. However, the disappointing mains and the poor attitude from our waiter meant the overall experience fell well below expectations.
Kicky’s is a true representation of what a great restaurant is. Simple food cooked fantastically well, a great atmosphere and an amazingly friendly, and helpful FOH team! It’s the kind of restaurant you can come to, feel like your in a cool and energetic room, yet still have amazing conversation with those you’re eating with - it’s a difficult balancing act that they seem to have nailed. I’ve wanted to go to Kickys for ages and was a tad worried I may have built it up in my head too much - but no, it is everything you could want in a restaurant. I’ll be back for sure - even just for the guanciale butter and 24-hour potato focaccia!
Excellent meal here recently , felt the pasta didn't quite match the same wow factor as all the other dishes we had but overall, fantastic food, the cheesecake was amazing , delicious steak, the foccacia and carbonara butter was inspired . Our server was nice but not too helpful or knowledgeable about the menu but thankfully what we ordered was sufficient and delicious. There's something for everyone here, small plates and mains across a range of styles each with a unique twist. A restaurant pushing the boundaries of modern dining .
