Visiting from the USA we wanted to experience good food, great atmosphere and friendly people. We found it all at Hemingways restaurant. It was relaxing and we were engaged in conversation. Thank you for a great dining experience!
What a hidden gem! We came here yesterday and were blown away by the delicious food and lovely atmosphere. The seafood platters, mussels, and steak were all top-notch. It's the perfect spot for a great meal with amazing vibes. 10/10!
We absolutely loved this place! After a super late flight, we finally made it to our rental and desperately needed a late-night bite. Even though it was within 30 to 40 minutes of closing, the management and staff completely saved the day and accommodated us at the very last second. There was a massive concert in town, so they had just survived a huge rush of patrons and were out of a few items. We had originally called hoping to just grab takeout, but they kindly invited us to sit down instead. They even had the chicken tenders and fries ready for our daughter almost the exact moment we walked through the door! The turnaround for our meals was incredibly quick, and the entire staff was exceptionally welcoming, kind, and genuinely helpful. To top it all off, the food was absolutely stellar! The cod was cooked to perfection, and the vegetarian pasta was truly exceptional. We can’t thank the team enough for turning a stressful, late-night travel situation into such a wonderful dining experience. We highly, highly recommend this gem!
Can’t get better than this. Cozy, fisherman’s theme with outstanding seafood dishes. Not just the quality but the creativity stands out. I was so glad I dropped in for dinner. What a treat on a cold, drizzly day. Definitely try the seafood chowder. And the homemade crabcakes. Wow
The restaurant is full with happy diners at 6.30pm on a Saturday. There's a lovely atmosphere. The clients range from a baby in a high chair to an octogenarian in a sparkly cardigan eating out with her son. We had a friendly welcome and were offered a choice of tables. The restaurant is small- maybe 36 covers, and every table has guests. It specialises in fish and seafood. There are a small number of other options, but you really need to go with food from the sea here. We shared a starter of tempura prawns with mayonnaise and a ginger soy sauce. The four large prawns came on a bed of salad which was freshly dressed and worked well with the crispy freshly cooked prawns. We both ordered the special- pan fried halibut with a buerre blanc sauce, capers and oven roasted veg. We had a choice of chips or sauted potatoes. The fish was expertly cooked- so moist and flavoursome. The sauce was excellent. The veg were carrot, parsnip and my favourite, beautifully cooked tenderstem broccoli. The service is very attentive and nothing is a bother. My only criticism is that the food came very quickly- we had finished our mains within a half hour of arriving. However, we then took our time with our wine. There's a great buzz here, but some might find it a little loud- the walls are all hard surfaces and the tables are close together.
