Description
The kayaking session begins from the beach near the Martello Tower. You will paddle first to Shenick's Island, a 20-minute trip, where you can land and take photos.
Next, the route continues to Colt Island, another 20-minute paddle, where you will take a break.
Historically, early writers recorded that an island off Skerries—likely Shenick or Red Island, which was then tidal—served as a landing point for a second-century invasion. Invaders landed and marched at low tide to the mainland, where they were defeated near the ancient settlement of Knocknagin, north of Balbriggan.
