Description
Day 1: Travel north from Dublin to Belfast, known for its industrial history and complex past. Take a short city tour, then visit the Titanic Quarter, including the Titanic Museum and HMS Caroline or opt for a black cab tour. Continue along the Antrim Coast and Glens Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the Giant's Causeway. Overnight in Portrush.
Day 2: Visit Derry, UK City of Culture 2013, with free time to explore museums and galleries. Cross into the Republic of Ireland to experience County Donegal’s natural scenery and Gaelic traditions. Drive through Glenveagh National Park, Errigal Mountains, and fishing villages. Overnight in Donegal.
Day 3: Head south through County Sligo, viewing Benbulben mountain. Visit Carrowmore, Ireland’s largest megalithic tomb complex (temporarily closed from 31 August 2024 to Spring 2025; alternative stops provided). Travel into County Mayo, stopping at Achill Island for rugged sea views before arriving in Westport for a two-night stay.
Day 4: Weather permitting, choose from visiting Kylemore Abbey, Connemara National Park, Clifden’s transatlantic flight site, the Sky Road, or the 12 Bens mountain range. Return to Westport for evening leisure and local dining options.
Day 5: Depart Westport and visit Cong village, location of the film “The Quiet Man,” including Cong Abbey or the Quiet Man Museum. Drive through Maam Valley to Galway City for free time and seafood. End with a visit to Kilbeggan Distillery, Ireland’s oldest licensed distillery, before returning to Dublin by approximately 19:00.
