The half-mile or so meander takes approximately 2¼ hours, covering four pubs which vary (plus a stop in Trinity College on each tour).
Even if you know nothing about Irish writers beforehand, the tour will make sure that you're entertained as you're getting edified (and fortified). The trick is remembering it all afterwards...
