Description

Dive into this 2-hour walking and music tour, and we will bring you on a 3 km walk through one of Dublin’s most beautiful but unexplored areas: the Dublin Docklands. We will start at the James Connolly Memorial Statue, dedicated to one of Ireland’s greatest socialists, and learn of his role in the 1913 Lockout. Next, we will make our way across the Liffey, crossing Butt Bridge, named after Isaac Butt, where we will tell you all about his role in Irish nationalism and the founding of the Irish Home Rule movement. We will then make our way to Pearse Street, stopping at the home of Padraig Pearse, and learn of his involvement in the 1916 Rising and his activism for the Irish language. We will then move toward Grand Canal Dock, one of the most rejuvenated areas of the city, and learn how Misery Hill got its name. Next, we cross back over the Liffey on one of Dublin’s most iconic bridges, the Samuel Beckett Bridge, and stroll past the Jeanie Johnston famine ship and the Famine Memorial. Finally, the tour will end at the stunning Dublin Custom House. Throughout the tour, one of your guides will also play music and sing songs about Dublin’s history to fully immerse you in the experience.
