Description
Christ Church Cathedral, built around 1028, is one of Dublin’s oldest structures and is located in the city’s medieval center. The cathedral's interior includes Ireland’s largest crypt, constructed in the early 12th century, which houses memorials and curious artifacts.
Notable items include the treasury and the mummified cat and rat, known locally as 'Tom and Jerry.' According to legend, the cat chased the rat into an organ pipe where both became trapped. These are referenced by James Joyce in Finnegans Wake.
