Additionally, paid parking options are available on the main roads from Malahide Village and along the Coast Road, easily manageable with Pay and Display machines.
Public transport options are plentiful, with Dublin Bus offering routes that include Malahide Beach. Routes 42 and 102 service the area, ensuring a seamless connection from various parts of Dublin, such as Portmarnock, Seabury, and the Dublin City Centre. Malahide Train Station, just a ten-minute walk from the beach, is another convenient option, regularly served by both mainline commuter and DART services.

I’m from Ukraine and have been living in Ireland for almost a year. During this time, Malahide Beach has become one of my favourite spots near Dublin. I visited it again recently and was pleasantly surprised! The beach is long (about 2–3 km) with golden sand and beautiful views over Lambay Island and the bay. The Irish Sea is usually quite cool, but right now the water is warm, and I even went for a swim! It was absolutely refreshing — clean water, sunshine, and the beach was almost empty on a weekday. Pros: Clean and well-maintained beach with parking, toilets, and lifeguards in summer. Lovely coastal walk towards Portmarnock (Velvet Strand) — very scenic with great sea views. Nearby charming Malahide village with cafés, restaurants, pubs, and the historic Malahide Castle. Plenty of space — not as crowded as many popular beaches, especially on weekdays. Cons: At high tide the beach gets noticeably narrower. If you live in Dublin or are visiting, I highly recommend Malahide Beach — especially while the sea is this nice. For me, it has become a real “power spot” in Ireland. Rating: 9.5/10 I’ll definitely be coming back again and again! ☀️🏊♂️🇺🇦
For such a small beach, it's stunning! Super clean, no rubbish anywhere. Water is crystal clear with no signs of jellyfish. Great for the kids and the water isn't too deep either (just don't go out too far as there is a drop)
To be there on this beach is so relaxing and feels like a day of holiday without paying extra money. They have an ice cream van going there and the kids enjoy it, 4 or 5 toilets that can be used. Just make sure you pack some snack and a drink with you if you go especially for kids, unless you'll go to the restaurants close by. We did not, but enjoyed it every minute. Is well worth a trip there on a sunny day. Is very nice to also have a walk along even not on a sunny day
BEWARE water quality at present is NOT good. I only discovered after we had been as only one sign that I could see and not in prominent location, no sign near the entrance we took. Otherwise it is a lovely spot with sitting area near the waters edge, ideal when you have small children or bags that you want to keep an eye on. Lovely grassy area near car park as well.
When the sun's out, it's like being on holidays in another country. There are alot of dogs loose, off their leads, which I appreciate but can be abit intimidating if you're not a dog fan!! Lovely beach mixed with sandy and rocky shores.
