My friend and I had to take an early train from Kerry to Dublin last week and had planned to have brunch at Lemon Jelly on the Millennium Walkway. When we arrived at around 11.15h on a Thursday morning, Lemon Jelly was chock-a-block and had people queueing outside. Right opposite was Jay Kay’s Café which, as rare visitors to Dublin since it became such an expensive destination, was new to us. Jay Kay’s was also very busy but has a lot more seating than its near competitor: two levels of indoor seating and a few tables in the pedestrianised zone outside. My friend and I liked the menu that was displayed outdoors and stepped in. We were immediately greeted by friendly, young staff and led to a table on the first floor. There were many menu items tickling our fancy and we opted for poached eggs on toasted sourdough with beetroot hummus and smashed avocado, and Jay’s House Omelette which turned out to be a very decent 3-egg omelette filled with chicken breast and bacon pieces, spring onion and very yummy button mushrooms. My friend would have liked a larger portion of her poached eggs dish (cost €12.50) and still felt a little hungry afterwards; I was more than happy with my omelette (cost €14.90). The quality of our food was first-class and so was the service: friendly and attentive but not rushed. We would be happy to return here again sometime in future.
We had just landed and needed some breakfast to start our day, and this place was the perfect spot! Good food and good service and wait time wasn’t too bad for our party of 2. As we went on a Saturday, it was rather packed and noisy, though. Nonetheless, service was efficient.
The place is busy and for a good reason. The food is good, even Americano was quite nice (I haven’t been very successful with coffee in Dublin so far). The service staff is friendly, attentive and efficient. They make sure to get you well-fed in no time. Nice vibe.
We had breakfast here two days in a row during our stay, and everything was amazing each time. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, and served hot very quickly. The coffee was also incredible — honestly better than in many coffee shops we’ve visited. On top of that, the staff was very friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. You can really feel the great atmosphere and care for customers. We truly enjoyed our experience and would definitely come back again!
We loved the atmosphere! We were seated right away & our order was taken promptly. My husband and I shared our first Irish breakfast and we were pleasantly surprised at how much we loved the blood pudding! Delicious flavors! 😋 The Americano coffee was hot and tasted fresh! Thank you for a lovely experience!
