Went for the primary schools hurling finals. We got parking on site and near to our allocated seating area in the stand. It was a lovely day and a special day out for the children who were very excited to be playing at Croke Park. Winning or losing didnt really matter, what mattered was the opportunity to play at this fantastic stadium. Can you imagine the thrill for a 10 to 12 year old child to have that opportunity, it was really special. We had coffee and chips from one of the shops in the stand and both were very tasty, fresh and hot. All the children got a medal of some sort and will remember that day for a long time.
Ireland's premier stadium. A cauldron usually overflowing with county passions, grit, determination and extraordinary skills. If you're a tourist and you are lucky enough to acquire a ticket, go watch a Championship hurling or football match. It will be unlike any other sporting occasion you've witnessed!
I joined the group with our guide Linda on the afternoon tour on international women's day, Dublin Daughters skyline tour. It was a absolutely amazing tour from start to finish. Linda was a very experienced guide, we got to sit in the stands overlooking the very impressive and massive pitch. The highlight was the skyline walk, such an impressive view from the walkway, especially the beautiful Grand Canal.Linda gave us a full on very informative history of so many famous, and infamous women of our past. Brave and stoic women who quietly made their mark, and others who not so quietly. Grainne O Maille, Maud Gonne, Countess Markievicz, Kitty Behan, President's Mary Robinson, Mary Mc Aleece, and our present Catherine Connolly, latest resident in the Arás. So many more included, . You need to do the tour to get the full understanding of the mark Women have made on our Country. It's very evident that Linda did a huge amount of research to bring this impressive to the public. We enjoyed a tour of the tunnel, and back to the Hall of fame, and all the precious other memories in the history off the GAA. The cafe is a welcome rest place before and after tour, for food, or a snack. The shop is well stocked for all ages and taste and prices. Something to suit everyone. The staff are so helpful and friendly, as were all the staff at the reception. Keep an eye on Social media, so you don't miss this wonderful tour. Thankyou Linda. You're a Star. You had a mix of serious and wit that covered everything. I came away smiling after a wonderful day to celebrate women of Ireland. .Everyone is a huge asset in their different roles. Enjoyable day at Croke Park! Great stadium atmosphere for the fans. Leinster v Munster will always give you a good time. GAA rules apply around drinks as you watch the game. Definitely will be back when in Dublin for the rugby!
Great logistic and organisation to get in, everything was very fluent, the stadium wasn't full though. It was a great experience to watch hurling and Gaelic football match, there was a smoking area and coffee/beer/food available to buy on site.
