We didn’t stay here but ‘popped in’ for a cocktail. We needed up staying for hours and had a good 5+ drinks. We was served by Conor who was amazing. He has great knowledge of drinks and made me the BEST espresso Martini I’ve ever had in my life. He was super friendly and made us amazing drinks. I would come here again in a heartbeat.
Very funky, newly renovated hotel. They are clearly still figuring things out. Tiny check in area was a mess at the 4 pm check in time. Rooms are small but well appointed. Very fun vibe right near Temple Bar. Great breakfast, excellent cocktails. Bar service was not particularly welcoming and the bar was empty so that was disappointing, but other than that, great spot in Dublin.
We were greeted so warmly by staff after a late flight. He suggested we have a night cap, which we thought was a great idea, but by the time we had put our bags away, we were curtly advised the bar was closed. The room was small but the location was fantastic, just a few steps to Temple Bar. The negatives are minor but worth mentioning. There was no information in the room, and only on day two, after we inquired, were we told there was a hair dryer and steamer in the room. Our fridge didn't work, but by day three, we finally had a cold fridge. The staff in the bar were RUDE! With so many options nearby, we decided to spend our money elsewhere! The breakfast was delicious, and the lady running the show went above and beyond for us. However, that said, we had an interaction with one young waitress that left us floored! She clearly was annoyed at our request to change tables. She never asked how we wanted our eggs, and we had to request a coffee. Overall, we enjoyed our stay despite these issues.
The location was convenient, everything was within walking distance or accessible by public transport. Despite being on a busy street; there was no noise pollution which was great. The bed was extremely confortable. The room wasn't cramped, however based on the price I certainly expected a bigger room. The Wi-Fi was hit and miss, great at times and slower than dial up at others. The 4pm check-in time is the latest I have ever experienced. The reception staff were all friendly and welcoming. My wife and I throughly enjoyed our stay at the Mercantile. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Eabha checked us in and surely cared that we were comfortable. She had told us that the Mercantile had changed owners and went through a remodel. It showed. I was so impressed as there were so many thoughtful touches, from the wall paper, pictures in the rooms, and that amazing bar and restaurant. Thank you all for a great start to our Ireland vacation.
