Ideal location - close to restaurants and shops as well as the tramline and bus stops. Room was immaculate!! The hotel overall was quiet and comfortable and staff were friendly and helpful. I’d highly recommend. Great value for money.
My main complaint about this place is the shower, I don't know how they approved this design. Water splashes out of the shower area and the water pressure isn't even strong. Other than that, I found the room to be comfortable, I like my room cold so I appreciate that the thermostat can be set to 19deg. The TV is ok, the audio is muffled. I appreciate the bedside light switches and power outlets. The location is both good and bad. It's in the heart of downtown, so yes, there's a lot of shops and cafes, but the general surrounding downtown area is quite dirty and smelly (not the hotel's fault). The street the hotel is on is on the "cleaner" side though and is also on the quieter side because not many cars frequent the street just because of the flow of traffic. It's walkable to the Aircoach bus stop, which can connect you to the airport in 30 mins (depending on traffic). I would still consider staying here again if I ever need to be in downtown Dublin again. If I had a shorter layover I would probably stay closer to the airport.
This review is based purely on my experience as a non-resident guest, and unfortunately, it has happened on multiple occasions. When you walk into Motel One, you're greeted by a spacious and inviting lobby with plenty of booths, chairs, and seating areas, so finding a place to sit is never an issue. My review isn't about the hotel's appearance or facilities, but rather the way its resident-only policy is enforced. There is no visible signage upon entering to indicate that the seating area is reserved exclusively for hotel guests. I completely understand that the hotel has every right to enforce such a policy; my issue lies with how it is communicated. Staff do not tend to approach guests immediately to explain the rules. Instead, they often wait until you've settled in, put your bags down, and unpacked your belongings—in my case, taking my laptop out and getting set up to work. I find this approach quite backwards. I've visited many hotels where it was immediately obvious that the facilities were for residents only, either through clear signage or by staff politely informing guests upon arrival. The reason I'm writing this review is because, on my most recent visit, a staff member—who I believe was a bartender—approached me and, in a rather condescending manner, said, "I'll allow you to stay for an hour." I found the tone unnecessarily rude and very off-putting. A little more clarity and a more courteous approach from staff would make for a much better experience, even for those who are not staying at the hotel.
Amazing location, walking distance from all the must see places in Dublin + train station + express bus to airport. Good, clean rooms, 24/7 reception of always smiling, sweet people working there. Especially the curly haired girl was very nice and let us check in early 😊☀️ Breakfast not included hence 1 missing star. Breakfast has vegan options!
Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Dublin - it's in a great central location within walking distance of tourist locations and good places to eat. There is also a tram stop close by and lots of bus stops by the river (including ones for the bus to the airport). Our room was small but very modern, clear and well maintained. The air con was reliable, easy to use and quiet. The room and bathroom was spotless. There was space to hang clothes - not so many shelves, but it was fine as we were only staying a few days and didn't have much luggage. Our room was really quiet - we didn't hear any other guests despite the rooms nearby being occupied. Slept well as the duvet and pillows were super comfy. We didn't opt for the breakfast as it seemed a bit pricy given that it was just continental. The reception and cleaning staff were really polite and friendly. I would definitely be happy to stay here again.
