A typical Irish pub experience with live traditional music, a warm atmosphere, and the unmistakable charm of Dublin’s nightlife. This is the kind of place you visit not only for the food, but above all for the experience. The service is fast and efficient, which is not always easy in such a busy and lively environment. The hamburger was really good, well prepared and satisfying. On the other hand, the fried dishes were a little too greasy for my taste and could be improved. The atmosphere, however, makes up for some of the limitations of the kitchen. Sitting with a drink, listening to live Irish music, and enjoying the energy of the pub is something truly unique and memorable. It is an experience that represents an important part of Dublin’s culture. A small suggestion: come here mainly to enjoy the music, the drinks, and the atmosphere rather than expecting a gourmet dining experience. This is not a Michelin-star restaurant, and it does not try to be one. It is a traditional Irish pub where the real ingredients are the people, the music, the Guinness, and the unforgettable atmosphere. Definitely a place to experience at least once when visiting Dublin.
Had a SOLID traditional Irish lunch at The Old Storehouse. I wanted to give something new a try and I ordered the Pork & Apple Pie. Let me tell you... it was the best thing I ate in Dublin. The meat was incredibly flavorful and the pastry was definitely made with love. I'm not familiar with Irish cuisine, so I was surprised with how wonderful the cabbage was. I would have happily eaten several servings of cabbage. It was SO good. I normally hate gravy (well, American gravy), but I considered licking the plate clean after finishing my pie and cabbage. This dish has inspired me to cook meat pies when I get home. I've been thinking about that pie all day and probably won't stop thinking about it for days. Good on ya, Old Storehouse cooks/chefs, good on ya.
The Old Storehouse was a very nice experience, especially because it feels a little bit more hidden away compared to the rest of the crowded spots in the area. The indoor section has a great, low-light atmosphere where you can comfortably watch the Irish dancers and singers perform. The food here is also good and definitely hits the spot. We actually came back a second time specifically to sit in their indoor courtyard garden. It has a very relaxed and casual vibe, simply equipped with basic wooden tables, boards, and chairs. It is the perfect atmosphere to just chill out, play cards, and drink a pint of Guinness. A huge plus is that you can still easily hear the live music playing from the main bar while sitting out in the garden, which made it a really wonderful escape during the hot days. Highly recommended if you want the classic pub entertainment but with a more laid-back space to retreat to.
If you are out for a drink and music, this place is for you. Fun and friendly atmosphere. I love it. But food was not there yet. We ordered salmons, steak, and casserole, there were not tasty, I am sorry to say that. Salmon was dry, steak was dry, casserole was just okay. I wouldn’t come back here for food but drink for sure. However, service was very good, attentive, friendly, and professional.
A must-stop on your trip to Dublin and the Temple Bar area - If you're looking for less of a crowd, we went at lunchtime during the week and had great luck getting a table quickly. The atmosphere and staff were lovely. When we went, it was December so they were decorated for Christmas which added a really nice touch as well. We had the Cottage Pie, Lamb Stew, and Guinness 0.0s - All were delicious and the perfect lunch on a chilly rainy day!
