Made a reservation a bit in advance as we heard great things about the Sunday roast and couldn’t wait to try. It was worth the wait! My husband nearly licked his plate clean. They had a pork special for the roast the Sunday that we went and that is the one I chose - it was so good! The skin was crispy and the pork melted in your mouth. Lots of food for the price. I would highly recommend their Sunday roast.
We held our wedding lunch at The Old Spot in July 2026, having visited several times in the months leading up to the day. It quickly became one of our favourite restaurants in Dublin, so choosing it for such an important occasion felt like an easy decision. From the very beginning, the service was exceptional. Alisa, Hazel and Denise in the reservations team were incredibly helpful throughout the planning process. They happily accommodated all of our requests, from creating a bespoke menu and ensuring there were excellent vegan options to guiding us through the wine selection. We were also able to drop off all of our decorations the day before, and Alisa made sure everything was beautifully set up and ready for our arrival. On the day itself, Aiden was simply outstanding. Professional, warm and effortlessly organised, he made everything run seamlessly. What really stood out was that the entire team felt like part of the celebration rather than just serving it. Every member of staff was genuinely invested in making sure we and our guests had an unforgettable day, and their enthusiasm and attention to detail did not go unnoticed. We had 40 guests across four tables, and the upstairs private room was the perfect size, with plenty of space to comfortably accommodate larger groups. The natural light from the ceiling windows made the room bright and welcoming throughout the afternoon, the air conditioning kept everyone comfortable despite a warm July day, and the linen tablecloths were well worth adding for an extra touch of class. One of the biggest talking points among our guests was the food. Being able to order from the full menu without asking our guests to pre order in advance made the whole experience feel much more relaxed and personal. With five main course options and excellent vegetarian and vegan choices, everyone found something they loved. The wine list is extensive and very reasonably priced. If you’re looking for a venue for a wedding lunch, birthday celebration, corporate event or any special occasion, I genuinely couldn’t recommend The Old Spot highly enough. The food is outstanding, the venue is fantastic, but it’s the people who truly make it special. To everyone at The Old Spot, thank you for helping to make one of the most important days of our lives so memorable. We’ll be back many more times in the years ahead.
Had one night in Dublin and was looking for a great place to have a celebratory birthday dinner for my husband and found The Old Spot on the Michelin website. My husband and I LOVE FOOD and like to find local gems to visit when we’re abroad, and we had two friends with us who were in from the UK who like to do the same. We were lucky enough to be there on a Sunday and we got to enjoy their Sunday roast which was INCREDIBLE! Talk about a place where you feel as if you’re a long time regular even though it’s your first time there… that’s The Old Spot. I can’t say enough good things about the food and the wine of course, but more importantly the warm hospitality we experienced from every member of the staff but especially our server Carlos who made us feel right at home as we settled into our table (and one or two glasses of champagne), and provided a long list of pubs to continue the fun into the late night. It was my first time in Ireland, and I can say confidently this dinner was the highlight of my trip. The only thing I regret is not having a second night in Dublin to return to this restaurant! Don’t think twice about booking a table here… I cannot wait to be back! Gracias Carlos ❤️
The Old Spot was a lovely experience. The staff were warm and attentive, and the food came out quickly. I had the chicken with tarragon and gnocchi, and I’m not kidding you when I say the chicken was cooked to perfection! We also shared a salmon starter with horseradish cream, along with a raw tuna special, both of which were full of flavour. If they had availability, we would have happily gone back the next day for Sunday lunch.
Went to The Old Spot with a friend and left overjoyed. From the moment we arrived every staff member was so kind and attentive. Even if the food wasn't up to standard the team they have would've brought us back regardless. Saying that - it was one of our favourite meals EVER had out! The portions are generous and the food was perfectly seasoned and balanced. I have a gluten allergy and also vegetarian and still had amazing options. Dessert was 10/10 too. Their signature cocktail menu was very impressive too - coming from a bartender. Back to the staff - they made our night, you can tell they genuinely take pride in their work. Can't wait to go back!
