This bar has a very chill vibe. Drinks and small bites 5 out of 5 highly recommend. No wait time but we did go on a Monday. Ray was our server and bites and drinks came out fast. Price was what you would expects to pay for a upscale bar like this one.
This will be longish, so let me start by saying that I thought it was brilliant and loved it and am already looking forward to returning. Bar 1661 makes a strong argument for poítin as a vital and interesting spirit beyond its historical importance. The cocktails successfully highlight poítin's breadth and utility, and were fantastic. But Brendan was kind enough to pull out two flights served neat, and that was a highlight of my time in Dublin. Everyone at the table had their favorites, and talking through the various local accents distilled was great craic. The second flight, of wilder expressions, showed how poítin is every bit the equal of artisanal mezcal, Oaxacan rum, or Haitian clairin. Any booze nerd will be delighted. You know who else was delighted? The various families who wandered in with their kids for a quick pint. It's hard to create a space that's good for families, or for nerds, or for couples on a date night. Creating a space that can serve all these needs is an accomplishment worth respect. Can't wait to come back.
Excellent cocktails and one of the more memorable drink experiences we had in Dublin. I loved the creativity of the menu and the thoughtful use of poitín throughout the cocktail program. The service was exceptional. A special shoutout to our server, who kindly found us a spot at the bar indoors after my husband decided he had reached his limit with the Irish weather. The bartenders were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond, taking the time to explain the history of poitín and introducing me to the wide variety of styles they carry. We tried three cocktails and every one was excellent. The standout for me was the Woven Stone, which was beautifully balanced and unique. If you’re a margarita fan, don’t skip the Parts Unknown. The blue corn tortilla element added a really fun and surprisingly effective layer of flavor. Great drinks, knowledgeable staff, and genuine hospitality. I would absolutely return.
Absolutely incredible! Never been to a bar or had an experience like it before. Not only were the cocktails the best we’ve ever had, the staff’s knowledge around the drinks was second to none - and made it so easy for us to find a drink we loved. They even gave us celebratory champagne for us just getting married. Will definitely be returning and telling all of our friends who visit Dublin to stop by ❤️
One of the best bars for handcrafted poitin based amalgamations and drinks. Cocktails and classics were really superb and they have a very extensive curated list of drinks and a very beautiful looking cocktail menu book. Loved the place drinks and just the vibe. Highly recommend it. For cocktail aficionados this is a must visit place
