Description

Take a luxury coach from Dublin city centre and travel out the coast to the outskirts of Dublin to Dalkey Castle where you will met by your guide who will tell you about life in the castle in the 1500s. The living history guides and actors will take you back in time to Tudor days. If you are feeling energetic, you can climb to the battlements and take in magnificent views of sea and mountains. After the tour you can stroll through Dalkey town and visit artisan bakeries, book shops, cafés and Dalky Tramyard Market. Back on the coach, take a short but breathtaking drive up the coast road to Killiney Hill. Pass by Enya's castle residence and enter Killiney Hill Park, a small public park overlooking both Dalkey and Killiney villages. It boasts spectacular views over the surrounding areas: Dublin to the northwest, the Irish Sea and the mountains of Wales (on a clear day) to the east and southeast, and Bray Head and the Wicklow Mountains to the south. From here you take the coach for another short trip to Avoca Handweavers in Kilmacanogue for lunch and shopping. Set in the grounds of the old Jameson (of whiskey fame) estate, surrounded by ancient trees and rolling gardens, the Avoca store at Kilmacanogue is Ireland's best retail and food experience. Then drive to rhe Dublin Mountains to visit the highest pub in Ireland, Johnnie Fox's, an old-style famous Irish pub. From here your coach will take you back down the other side of the Dublin Mountains. This drive is spectacular for views of Dublin Bay and the coach arrives back in the city centre at 16:30 PM.
