Description

Itinerary Stop 1: Dublin Castle After pick-up, we begin at Dublin Castle—more of a palace than a fortress. Originally founded in the 13th century, it has been rebuilt many times, with most of the current structure dating to the 18th century. Until 1922, it served as the British seat of power in Ireland. Stop 2: St. Patrick’s Cathedral Next, we visit St. Patrick’s Cathedral, named after Ireland’s patron saint. Founded in 1191, it's the National Cathedral of Ireland. It houses Marsh’s Library, the oldest in the country. Dublin uniquely has two cathedrals; to avoid conflict with Christ Church Cathedral, St. Patrick’s was designated as the national one, even though it has no resident bishop. Stop 3: Guinness Storehouse Then it’s off to the Guinness Storehouse to learn the story behind Ireland’s most iconic beer. Established in 1759 with a legendary 9,000-year lease, it now produces around 3 million pints daily. Enjoy the 90-minute tour ending with a pint at the Gravity Bar, which offers stunning 360° views of Dublin. Stop 4: Kilmainham Gaol Next, we tour Kilmainham Gaol, a historic prison used until 1910 and later during the 1916 Easter Rising and the War of Independence. Overcrowded cells once held men, women, and children together with minimal light. Many prisoners were deported to Australia. The museum was restored and opened in the 1990s. Entry includes a one-hour guided tour. Lunch Break We stop for a quick lunch before continuing. Stop 5: Dublin Writers Museum After lunch, visit the Dublin Writers Museum, celebrating literary legends such as Joyce, Wilde, Yeats, and Beckett. Opened in 1991, the museum offers rich insights into Ireland’s literary heritage. The audio guide is recommended. Most visitors spend about 30 minutes here. Stop 6: Trinity College & the Book of Kells Explore Ireland’s most prestigious university and its famous treasure, the Book of Kells—a stunning 9th-century illuminated manuscript. Stop 7: National History Museum End your day with a deep dive into Irish history. Exhibits span from Viking times through English rule, the struggle for independence, and modern Irish identity. It's a rich, comprehensive experience. Optional Final Stop: Temple Bar Wrap up your adventure with dinner and drinks in the lively Temple Bar area. While it’s a tourist hotspot, it offers great atmosphere—or you can opt for The Porterhouse, a local brewery known for excellent stout and traditional Irish food. You’ll be dropped back at the port by 9:15 PM.
